Don't get home delivery for security reasons. Could always check up on news when traveling. Now not possible.
Understand newspapers' need for revenue from content but seems some condensed version could be free to all. That is what the New York Times does. The problem is the ownership. They have always tried to use power to get what they want. They won't let the channels that carry Islander games be available in HD if you are a Fios subscriber. Old man Dolan was greedy and smart. The son is just greedy.
Enough said.Would now rate it OK. I now can get it on line since I am an Optimum customer. Biggest issue now is that it tends to crash a lot. PeterCivardi, Newsday close to its low point.Print versions of daily newspapers are in decline and hurting financially around the world with almost no exceptions. Even the NYT, by far the best newspaper in the US, misses the income it once derived from large display advertisements.I’ve read Newsday for about 60 years. Today it has sunk to an all-time low.
It chronicles auto accidents, small crime, and political corruption like nobody’s business, but what a bad source of news it has become! I just read a long article about how some rich hockey team owner who was sentenced to 20 years in prision will have his sentence revisited because an appeals court ruled that he was represented by “ineffective counsel”. His current attorney who won the review, the appellate court judge, and even the now deceased original sentencing judge were all named. Everybody but the “ineffective counsel”! It immediately struck me as a payoff to keep that attorney’s name out of the newspaper. Corruption is so prevalent and long established on LI that I doubt a single reader will complain. It’s what people have come to expect of Newsday.
Input#1, App worked great until nowI've been subscribed to Newsday for a few years and the app worked great until just a few days ago. Not sure if the company pushed out an update, but now it logs me out at the end of each day, and I have to log back in daily.
Last thing I need to do is remember another password. It's not like this is a secure bank account where it needs that level of security. And none of my other news apps (eg ny times which I also subscribe to, daily news, Huff post) make me login daily.Given the fierce competition for eyeballs, is this how they punish subscribing customers? I want to be able to easily consume my news content every day, and they just made it much more of a chore. There's no where in the app to ask to save the password, what changed and why?
